Around 500 dedicated sport channels: domestic football and the European competitions, major live sport, motorsport, boxing and MMA. Where a fixture is shown by more than one broadcaster you usually get a choice of commentary.
A separate on-demand section holding 80,000+ films and series — recent releases, older catalogue titles, animation and box sets filed by season and episode instead of dumped in one alphabetical heap.
Rolling news from the major English-language broadcasters plus regional bulletins in a range of other languages, which is the part most useful if you have moved country and want the news from home.
The general entertainment tier — drama, comedy, reality and chat — including the premium networks that normally sit behind an add-on with a cable package.
A children's section covering pre-school through to older kids, kept in its own category so it is easy to hand the remote over. Most players let you PIN-lock everything else.
Music video channels and audio-only radio stations across pop, rock, dance, classical, country and a wide spread of non-English stations.
Factual and documentary channels covering natural history, science, engineering, history and true crime — the category that tends to get the most use once the novelty of 18,000 channels wears off.
Feeds in Spanish, Arabic, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Turkish, Hindi and the major South and East Asian languages, each filed under its own country rather than mixed into a single international bucket.

Roughly 500 British channels: the terrestrial five, the Sky sports and cinema tiers, and the freeview-style entertainment channels that sit behind them.
